Portugese dance music collective Buraka Som Sistema are holding the UK premiere of their film, ‘Off The Beaten Track’ at Red Bull Studios in London Bridge tomorrow night.
Perpetually an intriguing proposition, Buraka Som Sistema are one of the few acts that can genuinely claim to have a ‘global’ outlook when putting together their music. Since achieving recognition with the ‘From Buraka To The World’ EP in 2006, Branko, Riot, Conductor and Kalaf have blazed a trail with their unique blend Angolan Kuduro music and other more traditional forms of club music, with their journey taking them to the usual clubbing hotspots as well as less likely locales such as Mozambique.
The 60 minute feature ( trailer here ) follows the band as they travel around the world, touching down in London, Paris, Caracas, Luanda ( Angola ), India and their base in the Lisbon suburb of Amadora. Directed by Joao Pedro Morreira and made in association with Red Bull Music Academy and illustrator Kate Moross, the film is a chance to take a behind the scenes look at one of the most interesting and vibrant bands around today
Buraka Som Sistema themselves will be in attendance at the screening tomorrow which starts at 7pm at Red Bull’s London Bridge studios, more info is available here. Those wishing to attend should email Mellisa.Hawkins@uk.redbull.com, although space is limited.
