Before the ClekClekBoom compilation drops in early April, they fit in a three-track French Fries EP.
French Fries, real name Valentino Canzani Mora, has been integral to the steady rise of Parisian label ClekClekBoom. As well as runnning the label with Ministre X, he dropped the imprints first record, and also kicked of their white label series last year, with ‘What To Do’/’One Ting Dub’. The killer VIP of his Dirtybird hit ‘Yo Vogue’ is coming out on the compilation, ‘Paris Club Music Vol.1’, as well as a re-release of ‘Champagne’ and ‘Hugz’, but before that, the ‘Everything’ EP.
He typifies the label’s bouncy, ghetto sound with this latest release; the title track opens with an atmospheric synth-driven intro, then plunged into a weighty bassline, punctuated by futuristic low-end stabs. Without totally ditching the French Fries lick of unorthodox, ‘White Screen’ returns to a more recognizable house/techno rhythm, complete with swinging bassline and craching cymbals, and ‘D’Angelo’ closes the EP in restrained fashion, a dark roller that reminds of Mora’s versatility as a producer.
‘Everything’ EP is out on March 4 via ClekClekBoom.
