News of a joint Jimmy Edgar and Machinedrum project has been around for a while, now, the first track from the EP is available to stream.
In their own very different way, these two producers have made some of the most daring electronic dance music around. Jimmy Edgar, especially in recent album ‘Majenta,’ makes slick and strongly sexual, 90s-sounding house. Machinedrum can’t be described so easily.
Travis Stewart has written nine albums under the Machinedrum guise, and with them, spans elements of dubstep, garage, juke and also more experimental electronica. He also makes techno under the Sepalcure alias, has released two LPs as Syndrone, makes juke with Om Unit as Dream Continuum, produces under his own name, and now, is half of Jets with Jimmy Edgar.
The project kicks of on October 29 when the Berlin-based label Leisure System put out the four-track Jets EP. A clip of the final track ‘Lock Lock Key’ has been uploaded to Soundcloud – as you’d expect, there’s subtlety and glitch in abundance, but also, a typically driving synth line and club ready bass notes.
