Squarehead To Release ‘Girl’ On 5ANDSEVEN Records

Squarehead’s latest EP ‘Girl’ is to provide a perfect introduction to new Sheffield label 5ANDSEVEN.

At only 19, Sheffield-based Squarehead is already a force to be reckoned with on the UK funky/garage scene, with his debut EP reaching number 1 in Juno’s download slots and also a remarkable refix of Joy Orbison’s massive tune ‘Sicko Cell’ to his name.

This new imprint 5ANDSEVEN aims to push the vibrant sounds emerging out of Sheffield. Clear influences can be heard from the likes of Boddika and Mosca in Squarehead’s record, yet this is not simply more of the same; the record is laced with catchy samples and interesting bass frequencies. Support from Disclosure, Monki and B Traits highlights a promising future for the young producer.

Squarehead is to play alongside XXXY, Midland and Ifan Dafydd on the 20th July at Tramlines, Sheffield. Click herefor more info.

‘Girl’ EP is released via 5ANDSEVEN Records on July 23.
