“Ancha es Castilla / N’importe quoi” is the official film of Sónar 2014
Directed by Sergio Caballero, a co-founder of the festival, the film is a 25 minute horror short with a sick sense of humour. It tells the story of a girl possessed by the devil who performs exorcisms with her family, to expel the evil inside of her.
The character’s are comprised of random food pieces and inspired by the black paintings of the Spanish painter Francisco Goya. In typical Caballero fashion, the plot and dialogue were developed after the shoot.
Since the festival’s inauguration in 1994 the Image which is always curated by Caballero has played a key role in setting the aesthetic for the weekend with posters and merchandising often featuring ironic and far removed imagery. Previous SónarImage’s have included Sónar Festival is For Sale and Finisterrae, an introspective story of two wandering ghosts.
The 21st edition of the advanced festival of music and new media art takes place in Barcelona on 11,12,13th of June. This year’s line-up includes James Holden, Jon Hopkins, Theo Parrish, Four Tet, Oneohtrix Point Never, Dâm Funk and more…
