2 polar opposites of the current bass scene, Mad Decent-signed Rusko and legendary roots reggae selector David Rodigan are set to share the stage at London’s fabric club this March, as the Farringdon venue pulls together a midweek spectacular that should please fans of both the frenetic modern dubstep scene, and the classic soundclash’s of the dub reggae scene.
Having both fronted fabriclive mix cd’s in their time, Rusko alongside Caspa back in 2007 and Rodigan late last year, both artists careers speak for themselves in terms of popularity and breaking down perceived barriers in their approach to bass led music. Following the release last year of his ‘O.M.G.’ album on Diplo’s all conquering label, Rusko has risen to super-star status, with his work for M.I.A’s latest album receiving praise across the board. Meanwhile Rodigan’s career stretches back to London in the eighties and the jamaican heritage of the capital’s booming soundsystem culture, bringing a level of performance rarely seen in modern sets.
Support will come from Yo!Yo! regular Smutlee and tickets are priced at £10 advance/£11 on the door/£8 students and fabricfirst members. Tickets available here.
