‘R Is For Roland’ is a new book on the history of 23 seminal Roland synthesizers and drum machines.
Penned by Michal Matlak (aka Analog Roland Orchestra) and Florian Anwander (in association with Electronic Beats), alongside illustrator and photographer Tabita Hub, the book pays homeage to classic Roland instruments that revolutionised the world of electronic music. Ideal for the coffee table, the limited edition hardback features over 384 pages, consisting of beautifully shot portraits of the machines, detailed insight into the cultural history and an array of artist interviews. Focussing on hardware created between 1973 -1987, it features contributions from Jeff Mills, Lee “Scratch” Perry, The Egyptian Lover, Au Revoir Simone, Plastikman, Portishead, Mathew Jonson, Legowelt, Nightmares On Wax and many more.
