Preview xxxy’s ‘Progression’/’Thinkin Bout’ 12″ For Ten Thousand Yen

Recent Rinse signing xxxy will issue his next release on April 15, for the Doc Daneeka-headed Ten Thousand Yen label.

Ten Thousand Yen‘s releases to date span the lush house of C.R.S.T and Darkhouse Fam member Chesus, Mickey Pearce‘s stuttered drum experiments, early Julio Bashmore house, and Daneeka & Abigail Wyles‘ electronic ballad ‘Tobyjug’, as well as material from Dutchman Presk and Doc Daneeka collaborator Benjamin Damage (under his deceased alias Damage). Its first transmission of 2013 comes courtesy of Mancunian xxxy.

In his own words ‘Progression’ is ‘is an arpy thing with bass’, and ‘Thinkin Bout’ is ‘a vocally thing with bass’. The former nods toward the dark strains of house that have become so prominent in UK dance music over the last year, whilst the latter sticks closer to the ghetto-sampled, more melodic style of his Rinse release.
