Our friends at Audio Doughnuts have recently kicked off their year release-wise with Benin City’s excellent single; next is Pusherman’s ‘Donuts’ EP.
On the back of a downtempo, vocal, electronica single, Benin City‘s ‘Baby,’ Audio Doughnuts show the breadth of their interests returning with some straight dancefloor funky from Pusherman. The ‘Donuts’ EP will be released late in July on vinyl and digital, and we tip it to wreak club havoc this summer.
The title track ‘Donuts’ opens with a grime vocal, and drops with a no-nonsense beat, hard-edged percussion and high-pitched synths. ‘The People’ is slightly more subtle in its approach but no less effective. Diamond Bass and Naive Machine are on remix duty, with the latter being our pick of the two, a creative re-work of ‘The People’ that gives an otherwise solely dancefloor-orientated EP something different.
Audio Doughnuts team up with Civil Music and Tempo Clash this Friday for a party at Hidden, bringing a line up as diverse as their release schedule. Drums of Death, Darling Farah, Eliphino, Starkey, Jehst and Om Unit are amongst the artists billed. Get more info and tickets from the Facebook event here, and enter our ticket competition here.
