Roska returns to Pinch’s Tectonic label for new single ‘Spearhead’/’Blurry.’
UK funky pioneer Roska has released on Tectonic before in the form of a collaborative track with Pinch as part of a split 12″, and also ‘480BC’ was featured on the label’s recent compilation. His debut full release for Tectonic will come on October 22, and sounds exactly like you would expect it might.
Roska makes dancefloor music of almost any kind; his productions over the years have spanned many genres but have all been linked by high-energy rhythms and an almost exclusively club appeal. Tectonic have become synonomous with the darker end of dubstep, garage and techno; pushing, aside for boss Pinch obviously, the likes of Kryptic Minds, Kevin McPhee, DECiBEL, Peverelist, Martyn, Illum Sphere, 2562 and Loefah.
Roska adapts his style to the label neatly and turns out two shadowy, bass hybrids; one at 140BPM and the other having more of a garage feel at 133. There’s nothing particularly exciting about either track – but, the production is tight throughout and the low-ends capable of quite some damage in a dark club setting.
