Production school Point Blank are to join forces with LEAF London for a series of events, workshops and talks.
LEAF ( London Electronic Arts Festival ), which is curated by Bestival founder Rob Da Bank and International Music Summit’s Ben Turner, is a city wide event running from 7th to 10th November that aims to showcase the capital’s legacy in the field of electronic music. Taking place this weekend from Friday 8th November to Saturday 9th November, Point Blank will be collaborating with LEAF at the latter’s headquarters at Circus Space in Shoreditch for a series of masterclasses with integral figures in electronic music.
Friday finds Mute Records boss Daniel Miller waxing lyrical about his love of all things modular and synth related, before he’s followed by techo bigwig and Berghain resident Chris Liebing, who will dissect his approach to performance and his live setup. Joe Goddard rounds off the day with a breakdown of Hot Chip’s recent Donna Summer remix as well as a discussion of his production and remix methods.
American innovators MK and Kevin Saunderson drop by on Saturday to deliver masterclasses of their own, with relative newcomer Kindness also teaching a class later on. Both days will also feature demos of Ableton’s much buzzed about new production interface; Push, whilst Saturday provides attendees with the opportunity to play their unfinished tracks to Track Doctor/Point Blank tutor Alex Phountzi ( aka. Greenmoney ). With Seth Troxler’s Smokey Tails BBQ cooking up a storm in the courtyard below, the event looks set to be an informative and entertaining couple of days.
Tickets and more info about LEAF can be found here, whilst you can check out a timetable of talks below.
