Photek’s next single will be released by long-standing Bristol bass label, and pioneers of the West Coast dubstep sound, Tectonic.
Following his return to the limelight last month with the ‘Avalanche EP’, and the recent release of the ‘Aviator EP’, not to mention a host of remixes from the cream of the bass scene (Addison Groove, Boddika, Breach), Rupert Parkes is now set to bring his meticulous programming skills to Pinch groundbreaking Tectonic imprint.
The labels 50th release, original production ‘Closer’ will be backed by a Pinch remix, and will be available in July on digital and vinyl. You can preview both tracks over at Red Eye. ‘Closer’ continues Photek’s recent blurring of the distinctions between breaks, electro and dubstep, whilst Pinch’s rattling remix swerves the melody into a subtle stepper, with all the nuances of production we’ve come to expect from the venerable Rob Ellis.
In other Photek news, the man himself will be perfoming alongside Goldie, Mark Pritchard, Breakage and Guido at this evenings (June 14) ‘Photek & Friends’ Boiler Room session in London, plus you can catch his new set at the below dates this summer.
