On Saturday 7th December, the Crate Brewery Shed in Hackney Wick will be staging a music event to help raise relief funds for the Philippines, with all proceeds going to the DEC (Disasters Emergency Committee) and Shelter Box.
Typhoon Haiyan, which battered the Philippines just over two weeks ago, is believed to be one of the destructive in the nations history. The category-five super-typhoon, which whipped up waves as high as five metres (16ft), caused widespread death as well as destruction to homes, business and infrastructure. The total cost of rebuilding devastated areas could reach £3.6bn, the Philippine economic planning minister, Arsenio Balisacan, has warned – which makes international aid and the contributions of individual people of the utmost importance in dealing with this crisis.
Organised by the lovely folk down at Vinyl Pimp, the night will feature a range of djs and live performers. This includes sonic journeyman Tim Exile, Planet Mu cornerstone Ital Tek, secretsundaze boss Giles Smith, Techno ranger Jerome Hill, Boiler Room-er Bradley Zero, Raj Chaudhuri of Livin’ Proof fame and a colossal b2b jam from WotNot music (Deft, Manni Dee, Real, K15, ChessLo Junior, Alphabets Heaven). There will also a bumper raffle that will feature prizes from: Hemlock Recordings, Hyperdub, Bleep, Ninja Tune, Planet Mu, Erased Tapes, Civil Music, Wotnot Music, Numbers, Deadplate Records, Midland and more tbc!
All money raised on the door, raffle and through booking fees will be donated, and Crate Brewery has kindly agreed to donate all profits from the bar as well, while their staff will be volunteering for the night. You can MAKE A DONATION HERE.
Please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to contribute a prize to this raffle.
