Philippine Sound System Fundraiser Tommorow Night

Some of the capital’s biggest DJ’s, MC’s and Promoters are joining forces at Dalston’s Hysteria tomorrow to raise money for the victims of Typhoon Haiyan, with all of the proceeds going to the Philippine Red Cross.

Typhoon Haiyan, which battered the Philippines just over two weeks ago, is believed to be one of the destructive in the nations history. The category-five super-typhoon, which whipped up waves as high as five metres (16ft), caused widespread death as well as destruction to homes, business and infrastructure. The total cost of rebuilding devastated areas could reach £3.6bn, the Philippine economic planning minister, Arsenio Balisacan, has warned – which makes international aid and the contributions of individual people of the utmost importance in dealing with this crisis.

Organised by Cindy Martin of Cynthesized productions, who is originally from the Philippines, tomorrow night’s ( 5th December ) event will see the likes of badman selector T.Williams, Shogun Assasin Icicle, human Hip Hop encyclopedia Kutmah and Rinse FM resident Faze Miyake all turning out for the good cause. Those attending will also be entered in to a raffle for a chance to win pairs of tickets to Dimensions, Outlook, Garden, Love Saves The Day, The Garden Festival, Soundwave Croatia, Stop Making Sense and Electric Elephant Festival. Giveaways have also been arranged on behalf of Hackney Picture House (cinema tickets), Powder Puffs & Pin Curls (haircut) and Broadway Beauty Boutique (cleansing and facial treatment), whilst Mixcloud, Manmakemusic, Resident Advisor, Livin’ Proof and Listen Up have all announced their support.

Advanced tickets can be bought here for £8 (with the booking fee donated by RA), whilst they will cost a minimum of £10 on the door tommorow.
