The Leeds house and techno don has unveiled the fourth instalment under his vinyl-only Special Request alias.
Paul Woolford is a name synyonymous with quality UK house and techno. Over the past decade his productions on the likes of 20:20 Vision, Cocoon, Planet E and Hotflush, as well as his own label Intimacy, have cemented his status as a true master of his trade. Last year he announced news of a new venture under the alias Special Request, a no-frills vinyl project showcasing a tougher and more varied side to Woolford’s portfolio, complete with hand-stamped white label appeal.
Special Request 1 & 2 unleashed the anthemic techno hybrid ‘Lola’ and the hardcore-edged ‘Alone’, alongside stripped down remix action from Kassem Mosse on ‘Deflowered’. Number 3 saw Woolford go further towards the jungle on ‘Ride’, tearing up Lana Del Rey’s ‘Blue Jeans’ into a choppy barrage of drums.
With Special Request 4, it’s a juxtaposition of the sounds he has been hinting at. ‘Vapour’ is an understated techno chugger, followed by the manic hardcore breaks of ‘Mindwash’ on the flip. Check the preview below and keep your ear to the ground for the currently undisclosed vinyl release date.
