New Documentary On The Career Of Electronic Music Pioneer Suzanne Ciani

A Kick Starter campaign has been launched to help fund the making of ‘A Life In Waves’, a feature-length documentary film that explores the career of electronic music pioneer, Suzanne Ciani.

Whether you were aware or not, if you watched television, went to the cinema, or listened to the radio in the 80s or 90s, you’ve probably heard the work of Suzanne Ciani. She’s a five-time Grammy award nominated composer, electronic music trailblazer and neo-classical artist whose creations have been featured in endless films, commercials and video games – perhaps her most famous piece being the Coca-Cola ‘Pop n’ Pour‘ that has featured in hundreds of adverts. Over the course of a 30+ year career she’s released 15 solo albums, revolutionised the advertising industry, was the first woman to score a major motion picture and is widely regarded as one of the most creatively successful composers in the world.

The film, created by Brett Whitcomb & Bradford Thomason, will delve deep into her fascinating life, from learning piano basics through to multi-million advertising ventures, starting a record label and the re-acquaintance with her beloved Buchla synthesizer. The film will utilise the wealth of archival footage and audio that Ciani has collected over the years, in what should be a nostalgic and visually-arresting account of one woman’s winding journey to succeed in a typically male dominated area of art. The Kick Starter campaign will help cover the cost of the initial major production of the film.
