Move D Returns To Electric Minds For ‘To The Disco’ EP

Jay Shepheard, Endian and Duff Disco remix Move D tracks on EMINDS026.

The East London promoters-turned-record label have, since 2007, been a source of consistently high quality, carefully-nuanced house music. They now turn to German producer and world-renowned DJ Move D, real name David Moufang, to follow up last year’s ‘Hybrid Minds’ EP.

His 19 years of classy output across his own (now-defunct) Source Records, liebe*details, Running Back, Underground Quality, Warp and Workshop, amongst others, pit him as one of the most prolific European house artists in operation, making a return to Electric Minds welcome news to fans of the label and genre in general.

‘To The Disco’ is the EP’s only original, a glorious amalgamation of buried kicks, vocal samples, chordal melody and riff. If you’ve been to Electric Minds’ events, you’ll know about the refined sound they push; ‘To The Disco’ is an exact embodiment that shines with noticeably exquisite production.

NonPlus+ staple Endian, formerly one half of Commix, and recent Retrofit album releasee Jay Shepheard remix the standout ‘Hybrid Minds’ cut, ‘Got 2 B’. They take the track in drastically different directions, the former opting for a low-key, jacking DJ tool, and Shepheard going for typically playful rhythms and a throwback disco feel. ‘Useless’, the third track from that aforementioned EP, is edited by Londoner Duff Disco, aka Duffstep, who ends the record with a suitably slo-mo jam.
