The 50Weapons chiefs are the focus of documentary film ‘We Are Modeselektor’.
It’s testament to the longevity and successes of Modeselektor‘s career that a film has now been made documenting it. Active since the mid-90s, the Berlin duo of Gernot Bronsert and Sebastian Szary delivered their first release ‘In Loving Memory’ in 2000, courtesy of Ellen Alien’s BPitch Control, a label which would become their home. In the time since they’ve released four full-length albums, formed supergroup Moderat (alongside Apparat), and launched labels Monkeytown Records and 50Weapons.
Now they are to star in ‘We Are Modeselektor’, a documentary directed by Romi Agel and Holger Wick that chronicles the duo’s extensive career and important events in their biography. Featuring rare archive footage and interviews with Berlin luminaries Sascha Ring (Apparat), Thaddeus Herrmann, Ellen Alien and Thorsten Pröfrock, the film promises to be a fascinating insight into the story of two of electronic music’s true pioneers.
The film will premiere on April 30th in Berlin ahead of the DVD’s May 3rd release date, with the following screenings also taking place:
May 17th – Roundhouse, London
May 24th – La Machine du Moulin Rouge, Paris
June 13-15th – Sonar Festival, Barcelona
