A group of fanboys have designed a working replica of the classic Roland drum machine
In what appears to be a DIY backyard project, a group of kick-drum fanboy friends have assembled a 9ft wide “interactive sculpture”of the Roland 909 drum machine.
Fit inside a large wooden shell with custom built knobs and buttons that resembles the classic 1984 machine are the modern Roland TR-8, a TD-12 and 11 x PD-8’s compose the inner workings of the fully functional devices.
You can view a detailed selection of images from the making of the sculpture, design of the buttons and all moving parts on their blog here and watch a video posted online where you can see them demonstrate it’s simple functionality below. We’re not sure what these guys have in store for the oversized device but we plan on finding out.
