Following on from the success of LS001, thanks to the craft and generosity of Throwing Snow and Drop/Dead, Liminal Sounds bring us LS002, ahead of their show at the Rhythm Factory this weekend.
A four track EP, composed around a foundational track which is then remixed and reconstructed creating a enduring body of work that explores the transgressive possibilities of a single track which would perhaps have remained undiscovered had it been released solely as an original.
The kindly donated opener is Sodium by Visionist, a sparse affair with abstract 808 hits and abrasive bass licks, tied together with a overall brooding aesthetic. Venice Calypso takes control with a loud and haunting take on Sodium, adding density and pace, introducing it to the club.
Elsewhere’s first remix, featuring M.I.K, gives Sodium a grime edge; an impressive transformation that leaves a solid impression. Elsewhere’s instrumental version introduces intoxicating waves of bass, drawn out to create yet another mesmerising track, making Elsewhere’s reworks stand out on this release.
