Details of a new album from Kode9 & The Spaceape were released yesterday, with the duo’s sophomore album ‘Black Sun’, scheduled for an early April release on Kode9’s swiftly expanding Hyperdub imprint.
Promised to be “something very different from their last album and everything else around”, the album echoes Kode9’s 2009 release of the same name, and is the first longplayer since the pair’s groundbreaking 2006 debut ‘Memories Of The Future’.
It’s been a busy year for the Hyperdub label, releasing 3 debut albums and a shed load of singles, pushing the ever-developing hardcore continuum to new and exciting areas with tracks like DVA & Fatima’s ‘Just Vybe’, LV & Okmalumkoolkat’s ‘Boomslang’ and Ill Blu’s ‘Bellion’, not to mention the overwhelming success of production duo-come-band Darkstar’s ‘North’ album.
In other Hyperdub news, the label will host a showcase at Berlin’s Berghain club, in partnership with Club Transmediale. The full family will be in attendance, with live sets will come from Kode9 & The Spaceape, King Midas Sound and Darkstar, with DJ sets from Ikonika, Cooly G, DVA, Terror Danjah and Kode9.
