2015 was a huge year for Warp artist Kelela. She put out one of 2015’s strongest records – which contained one of our favourite tracks of the year – and followed it up with a killer remix album featuring the likes of Kahn, Air Max 97 and Teklife’s DJ Spinn.
But it seems the remixes don’t stop there. Earlier this morning the enigmatic singer/producer Adam Bainbridge (a.k.a Kindness) shared a couple of edits on his Soundcloud page with the note “Some sample heavy edits that missed the remix deadline… Love to KM, KB & DR.”, suggesting that they were originally meant for the ‘Hallucinogen Remixes’ album but missed the cut.
Bainbridge works with the tracks ‘Cut For Me’ and ‘The High’, turning the first into an atmospheric ballad, tastefully sampling Kate Bush’s ‘This Woman’s Work’, whilst reworking the second into a hard hitting, grime influenced edit. Both tracks (which couldn’t be further apart stylistically) are quality and show the breadth of Bainbridge’s talent as a producer.
