Having released her stunning debut album Pull My Hair Back in 2013, the Canadian songwriter returns to Hyperdub for her second full-length, entitled Oh No, which will see release May 13.
The album was made in her hometown of Hamilton, Ontario, with production partner Jeremy Greenspan from Junior Boys. However, according to Hyperdub, “Oh No is driven positively by the idea of making music that isn’t inspired by where she lives. Instead, the album resonates more with the philosophy of experimental pop of Japanese 80s electro outfit Yellow Magic Orchestra and Jessy’s breathless, pitched vocals are reminiscent of YMO collaborator Miharu Koshi”.
Lanza has also revealed the video for lead track ‘It Means I Love You’, which you can watch below. She’ll also be touring with the Junior Boys come February. Full tour dates can be found on her website.
