A track from Jessie Ware’s recent album is remixed by George FitzGerald, Ewan Pearson and Todd Edwards.
The Mercury Prize-nominee’s debut album ‘Devotion’ was met with almost universal praise and appreciation. The London-based singer has quickly become one of the UK’s most rated voices, and has clocked up collaborations with SBTRKT, Joker and Disclosure, amongst others, along the way.
In this new PMR Records EP, George FitzGerald, Ewan Pearson, and Todd Edwards are invited to work on Jessie Ware‘s original, and the results are as expected.
George FitzGerald‘s version first featured in Scuba‘s recent FACT mix, he layers the vocals on typically polished synths and smooth percussion in a classic ‘PMR-sounding’ way. Ewan Pearson‘s ‘Permissive Society’ remix is slow-burning, deep house; aside from the pitch-shifted vocal snippets, Pearson re-builds much of track himself. New Jersey’s Todd Edwards, on the other hand, keeps a lot of the original flow, and re-inforces it in his legendary, 4×4 garage style.
