We’re hitting the airwaves before we head to Oxjam 2014 in East London next Sunday…
This year we’re delighted to be involved with Oxjam Dalston – a 2 day, 7 venue event with over 40 artists put on in aid of charity Oxfam. From 11th to 12th October, there will be live performances and DJ sets from a range of established and emerging artists at the likes of The Shacklewell Arms, Power Lunches, Dalston Roof Park, Total Refreshment Centre, Servants Jazz Quarters and The Nest. Over the weekend punters can expect to catch the likes of Blue Hawaii (DJ set), My Panda Shall Fly, Strong Asian Mothers, Bell Towers, Bandicoot and more – with a fair few surprises and special guests scheduled in for good measure. You can brush up on those artists with this nifty mixtape.
Hyponik’s portion of the event will take place Sunday October 12th at Birthdays. On the day we have a DJ set from London’s comm•une crew, a showcase from Alphabets Heaven, Charo and JJ Mumbles of label WotNot Music, a mind bending live-set from multi-instrumentalist Jitwam, a performance from NTS selector/No Pain In Pop affiliate Throwing Shade, a one man tour de force from newcomer Only Rays and a set by new band LORE. Two of our favourite DJ’s, Australian Deep-Disco maestro Francis Inferno Orchestra and Tribal beat peddler Auntie Flo, will also be appearing – as will a special guest from L.A’s Soulection stable, plus heavyweight selectors Budgie & Rags from the Livin’ Proof camp. Keep an eye out for further line-up announcements from ourselves and Oxjam over the next week or so.
In anticipation of our event at Birthdays and Oxjam Dalston as a whole, we’ve been invited to appear on London’s beloved online community radio station NTS. Tonight (October 1st), we’ll be on from 10 to 11pm spinning unreleased material from some of the artists appearing at the event as well as a couple of our fresh favourites, before Francis Inferno Orchestra takes the reigns for a special guest mix. You can tune into that one here.
