This weekend, the Tate Modern will stage Hyperlink, a free festival of art, music and fashion for young people.
Feeding off it’s reputation as one of the most forward-thinking art institutes in the world, London’s premier destination for modern art is offering young people the chance to take part in a series of interventions, workshops, performances and installations. It can be all to easy to patronise with these sorts of ‘youth’ events, but with a live audio-visual installation from Jacques Greene‘s Vase label and artists such as Akala and Sway set to make an appearance in a varied programme of events, it appears that a substantial amount of thought has been put into the proceedings. It’s not just music either, with high-end photographer Rankin holding workshops as well as a variety of fashion designers and similarly creative folk.
The festivities get underway this Friday and last all weekend, with Hyperlink being the first in a series of national festivals being developed as part of circuit, a new youth initiative for the visual arts.
