Hyperdub & Domino Clean Up At The Independent Music Awards

London labels cleaned up at the fourth annual independent music awards in last night

The Independent Music Awards took place in London last night. The evening hosted by Xfm’s John Kennedy and Radio 1’s Alice Levine, saw a range of artists and labels collect deserved awards across an array of categories.

Domino Records collected the coveted ‘Independent Label of The Year’ & Hyperdub was the only label to win two awards collecting the ‘Best Small Label’ and ‘Innovator Award’, presented to founder Steve Goodman aka Kode9 for his boundary pushing approach to music.

Richie Hawtin was honoured with the Outstanding Contribution To Music Award & Ghetts won the Hardest Working Band or Artist award. Pioneer Award winner Martin Mills, founder and chairman of The Beggars Group. Martin received his award from industry legends Geoff Travis (Rough Trade) and Seymour Stein (Sire Records).

The ceremony included performances from Twin Atlantic & Daughter who closed the ceremony performing in honour of this year’s Pioneer Award winner Martin Mills, founder and chairman of The Beggars Group. Martin received his award from industry legends Geoff Travis (Rough Trade) and Seymour Stein (Sire Records).

Icing on the cake for Hyperdub who are currently celebrating their 10th year in action, and tonight all roads lead to Corsica Studios as the label celebrate their anniversary (more information here).
