Hear The Title Track From Swindle’s New EP – ‘Walters Call’

Brownswood Recordings and Deep Medi join forces to bring us Swindle’s first solo outing since ‘Long Live The Jazz’.

Last year Swindle proved to us all that his two previous Deep Medi EPs were far more than a gimmick. Taking a Dubstep framework and embellishing it with Jazz signatures – live instruments, soulful vocals and slapped basslines, Swindle’s genre cross-over stayed cohesive and successful across the ‘Long Live The Jazz’ LP last year.

Brownswood have released pre-order details for a new EP titled ‘Walter’s Call’, which will be available on 20th October. The title track is available to stream below, and can be downloaded upon purchase of vinyl or digital pre-order. The keen eared amongst you might recognise the track from Swindle’s DJ sets, and it was also the closing tune on the live band’s Boiler Room earlier this year. ‘Walter’s Call’ launches straight in, with snare rolls and big brass lines paying an obvious nod to Big Band styles whilst still referencing Dubstep and Footwork rhythms. To top it all off, a sleazy trumpet solo goes virtuoso with wah wah wails before the track’s turntable gets switched off and it slows into chaos.

The ‘Walter’s Call’ EP is available to pre-order now as both vinyl and digital here, and is out via Brownswood and Deep Medi on 20th October.
