Hear Clouds’ Next Turbo Recordings Release

Stream ruthless duo Clouds’ new Turbo Recordings EP, ‘Bulbophyllum Remiferum’.

Clouds, real names Calum Macleod and Liam Robertson, have fast become a big part of Tiga‘s twenty-year-old label, Turbo Recordings. Following their ‘Optic’ 12″ and the ‘Matter’ EP, on Twin Turbo, they announced themselves proper with ‘Conciousness’, which both Gary Beck and Chris Liebing named their track of 2012. Then impressed on the ‘New Jack Techno’ compilation with ‘Gang 49’ (which we gave away free), and in November began the ‘Tannhauser Acid Works’ series with a bang.

This latest effort sees a decisive move away from the full-on, warehouse grit of that record, pushing toward a cleaner, jacking 4×4 sound, complete with suitably morphed samples. They return to the “all-digital, all-banger” sub-label Twin Turbo, and in the hypnotic, Blawan-esque ‘Terrorcore’, house track ‘Local Bubble’ and the heavily-distorted ‘HE_1523_0901’, do so to great effect.

Available to buy here from Monday.
