Hackney Council Announce Plans To Shut Down Dalston After midnight

All may not be well in the hipster paradise of East London’s Dalston as Hackney announces plans to introduce a new special policy area (SPA) in clubbing hotspot.

In a bid to curb binge drinking and general drunken antics, the bill would see Hackney Council implement strict conditions to any new licensed establishments in the affected area, forcing them to shut their doors by midnight. Evidently this would have a fairly devastating effect on business in the area, however it is expected that popular night spots such as The Nest, Dalston Superstore and Dance Tunnel will remain unaffected. Unsurprisingly, many are protesting the proposed changes, but one has to wonder how opposed the locals subjected to barrages of drunken noise every night would be to the SPA.

Hackney Council are currently holding consultations to assess the proposed change and we’re sure more details will reveal themselves in due course – head here for more on the proposed SPA
