Grade 10 International – who you may remember from Hyp 254 – launched last May as a new artist collective focused on creating uncompromising art and genre-defying music. Evident in their monthly Radar radio show and previous releases from the likes of Kollaps and Loosewomen, the collective’s sound centres on melancholic atmospheres with a rugged flair, taking in everything from footwork to grime to jungle. Now reaching their first birthday, Grade 10 are announcing their 4th release, this time being the debut sounds of member Unslaved.
Entitled ‘Punjab’, Unslaved takes us on a journey through three unconventional club tracks that delve into the sonic qualities of early dubstep and grime whilst retaining an eeriness and ambient quality throughout.
Accompanying the news of the release is a teaser video shot by acclaimed videographer Rob Heppell and Unslaved after a day shooting in a mountain range. The lo-fi glazed visual accompanies the dreamy soundscapes of Unslaved’s ‘Punjab’ and gives hint at the tone of the rest of the EP.
GTI004 is set for release on May 2nd and you can check out the teaser video below. Keep up with Grade 10 on their website.
