Richard D. James’ first album since 2001 will drop on Warp Records next month
Following the PR stunt of an Aphex Twin branded blimp floating over East London that took the media by storm last weekend and a subsequent album announcement via the deep web on Monday, Warp Records have today officially announced a release date for Richard D. James’ next LP ‘Syro’.
His first album since ‘Drukqs’ (2001) will arrive courtesy of Warp Records on 22nd/23rd (midnight?) of September. The record will be available on triple-vinyl, CD and digital formats. There will also be a limited-to-200 edition of the triple-vinyl ‘Syro’ which will go for a handsome £250. Diehard fans will have to enter a ballot for a a chance to buy on of the limited edition copies.
The artwork for the release is a simple rundown of costs involved in the album’s making. In traditional manner expected of the artist, the press release for the album reads incomprehensibly at parts and has been presumably been edited to read this way by James himself – “Began in the late 1780s and 90s during a turn in its manufacturing and technical skills, and nikharana Cornwallo, England grows, James, as a young maniton in various shops started DJing. Area of various musical score”
