Hot on the heels of the announcement of Eglo’s 4th birthday celebrations, label co-owner Floating Points has shared one of his contributions to the accompanying CD compilation.
Sam Shepherd, AKA Floating Points, has become one of the label’s most well regarded artists, having delivered one of their earliest hits in the form of 2009’s seminal Vacuum EP. Joining the dots between jazz, soul, house and techno, he’s become an eclectic figurehead for everything Eglo stands for.
Wires, slated for release in a compilation on April 29th, sees the artist take a step away from the dancefloor with a wonderfully rich and expansive composition that sits firmly in the realms of his beloved jazz. Featuring a live band of no less than 14 members, with Shepherd himself taking the reigns on a mixture of instruments including a Buchla 200e and ARP Odyssey, it’s an example of FloPo on top form.
With the rest of the compilation taking the shape of two CDs of exclusives and classics, such as the aforementioned Vacuum Boogie, and new tracks from a host of label stalwarts including Funkineven and Fatima, its sure to be one of 2013’s must-have releases.
