An Evening Of Fly Girls, B Girls And Home Girls

A new series of events, talks and workshops will document the women who shaped the UK’s Hip-Hop scene…

Kicking off with an evening of “of conversation, memories and dance”, February marks the start of an ongoing project that will celebrate the female MCs, dancers, promoters and fly girls who were first to embrace Hip-Hop culture when it spread to our shores back in the 1980s – crews such as South London’s Cookie Crew, the She-Rockers, Monie Love and more. The project has been put together by writer and DJ Chardine Taylor-Stone in collaboration with the THEME art house.

The first event will take place at the Black Cultural Archives in Brixton on Thursday 12th February, featuring an in-depth conversation with Donna She-Roc from the trail blazing all female group She-Rockers, and DJs playing the sounds of the era into the night.
