Croydon native Deft releases second compilation of unheard material.
Since 2011, Deft has been steadily carving a name for himself in the electronic underground. The rise of the London based producer, due to his consistent output and abundant remix work, has seen him win plaudits from Daedelus, Alix Perez, Mary Anne Hobbs and DJ Shadow amongst others. The uncommon variety of genres explored and mastered by the producer have seen his experimentations result in releases on sundry labels such as Space Hardware and Rwina. More recently Project Mooncircle and WotNot Music have been graced with the adept producer’s expertise, adding to his already acclaimed discography.
Following Before Vol. 1, released on Deft’s Bandcamp in 2011, the producer has announced a follow up containing fourteen previously unheard tracks. The ‘Before Series’ continues with Vol. 2 (available to preview below), a release that exemplifies the versatility of the artists output, with tracks ranging from the engrossing atmospheric ambience of the brilliantly titled ‘The Trivial Man’, to the Footwork frenzy of ‘Arx Him’ evoking memories of the Masquerade EP on Rwina. The release also features explorations into the world of Instrumental Hip Hop and sample based beats, reminiscent of a sound the producer flirted with earlier in his career.
To coincide with the release of Before Vol. 2, Deft will also be selling physical copies of his unreleased ‘Supreme Sound of London’ EP on Skullcandy, signed by Deft and Flako, who features on the release as a remixer. The red vinyl is limited to nine copies so grab them while you can
The ‘Supreme Sound of London’ EP is available now over at Deft’s Bandcamp. ‘Before Vol.2’ is released July 21st.
