The forthcoming film will look at the story behind the Wu Tang pair’s classic ‘Only Built 4 Cuban Linx’ album.
Rather incredulously 2015 is set to mark 20 years since the release of ‘Only Built 4 Cuban Linx’ (otherwise known on cassette by the drug referencing moniker, ‘The Purple Tape’) – the landmark Raekwon album that many people believe may be the best Wu Tang solo project. Following on the heels of last year’s Nas documentary ‘Time Is Illmatic’, the ‘Purple Tape Files’ – which was premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, looks to shine a light on the stories and key players behind this classic album.
As well as Raekwon and Ghostface, the below trailer shows snippets from interviews with other Wu Tang members, as well as lesser known associates and figures from the world of music such as Xzibit and Quincy Jones. No release date for the film has been confirmed thus far.
