Champion announces retro gaming inspired single, Arcade

Champion’s own Formula Records announce another heavy hitter, this time coming from the man himself.

Following releases from Flava D and Killjoy featuring D Double E, Formula Records’ next offering comes from label founder Champion in the form of two-tracker Arcade / Chrome. Already finding fans in the likes of Ben UFO and Four Tet, A-side ‘Arcade’ works stuttering percussion, retro-gaming samples and loud gunshots alongside shattering low end, melding the influences of funky and grime into a lethal club weapon. B-Side ‘Chrome’ works on more familiar ground, as bass squelches ride over intricate percussion before unravelling into a swung half time riddim.

The record is out on the 3rd June and to celebrate, Formula Records are hosting their second label showcase, moving from fabric to Peckham’s Bussey Building. Joining Champion will be Killjoy, Sticky and Terror Danjah, as well as unannounced special guests. Tickets are now on sale at Resident Advisor, with 2nd release starting at £6.50.

Arcade/Chrome is out June 3 and can be pre-ordered from the iTunes store.
