CDR and Dimensions Festival continue their collaboration with #LocalAudio…
After the success of last years Dimension Sounds, the co-operative efforts of CDR and Dimensions Festival return in the form of the innovative #LocalAudio project. Aimed at “producers, artists and festival heads”, phase one of the three phase project invites participants to represent their area through audio recordings. Using a portable recording device or a smartphone, entrants are requested to produce a series of audio recordings that distinctively exemplify their local district. The winner of phase one will be awarded with two VIP tickets for Dimensions Festival and a vinyl bundle.
CDR, the self-appointed ‘Night Of Ideas and Tracks In The Making’, continues to host a bi-monthly event at Plastic People, as well as regular CDR events in Berlin, Copenhagen and Melbourne, focussing on workshops and community support. The opportunity to collaborate with Dimensions allows CDR to reach a larger platform and flex their creative muscles within the niche of sonic experimentation. The utilisation of field recordings and references to Musique Concréte in electronic music has become ever prevalent in recent years. The emphasis on capturing real-world sound with intent seems an appropriate yet challenging prospect for participants.
