Toronto’s techno producer Kevin McPhee has material on the way for Naked Lunch.
Kevin Mcphee has risen to fame through releases on Naked Lunch, Hypercolour‘s sub-label Hype_LTD and Bristol’s Idle Hands. He also has collaborative material out with Gerry Read, remixes for the likes of Sepalcure and Gingy & Bordello, and a four-track EP, due on November 19, for the WNCL label.
‘It’s What She Wants’ is suprisingly far-removed from the rough techno we’ve come to expect from McPhee. An atmospheric, male vocal is the main player, riding just above typically mechanical percussion. ‘Version One’ equally shows a different side to the producer’s talent; it centres on a progressive synth line and funky drum programming.
Naked Lunch, whose roster includes Boddika, Scuba, Trevino, Cosmin TRG, Kowton, Jon Convex, Instra:Mental, Breakage and McPhee already, will put the record out; no release date announced as of yet.
