Brian Eno To Give A Lecture On John Peel

The accomplished artist is set to ‘examine the ecology of culture’.

Brian Eno is a highly esteemed musician and producer who saw fame with Roxy Music, before taking on a solo career and producing for the likes of Coldplay, U2 and Talking Heads, amongst others. He’s also cited as one of the prime innovators of Ambient music. Check out our recent in-depth interview with esteemed Ambient musician David Borden here.

Eno’s been invited to host the annual John Peel lecture at Radio Academy’s Radio Festival at the British Library on 27 September. The speech will be broadcast on BBC 6 Music and BBC Four and follows past John Peel lectures from artists as diverse as Charlotte Church, Iggy Pop and Billy Bragg.

Speaking on the late Radio 1 DJ, Eno said Peel ‘had a profound effect on my musical life and indeed my becoming a musician at all”. He added: “His career as a non-musician who altered the course of music has been an inspiration to me and forms the basis of this talk.”
