Braiden Launches New Label With Solo EP

The Berlin based Brit will inaugurate Off Out later this month.

Long a face on the scene, Steve Braiden made his bow as a producer in 2010 with ‘The Alps’ EP for Joy Orbison’s now defunct Doldrums imprint. Two years passed before he returned with ‘Belfry Tower’ – a 12″ for Amsterdam’s Rush Hour, whilst the intervening years have seen him remix the likes of Jacques Greene and SBTRKT. Formerly a resident on both NTS and Rinse FM, he’s a canny DJ – with his Electro special on the former station last year receiving constant rotation on the Hyponik stereo.

His first foray into running a label begins this month, with the launch of Off Out. The label’s first release comes from its head – in the shape of ‘Apex Of The Sun’s Way/Solar Poise’, due out 26th January. Both cuts – which you can preview below, find Braiden staying true to type, with meaty basslines, driving percussion and swathes of sullen atmospherics. Available exclusively on wax, the record also provides visual artist and photographer Braiden a chance to showcase his other talents – its his handiwork you can see on the sleeve.

‘Apex Of The Sun’s Way / Solar Poise’ is out 26th January on Off Out. Keep up to date with release info via the label’s website.
