Booty Call Records Releases ‘Global Footwork Volume 1’

The Parisian booty institution summons 12 footwork movers and shakers from around the world for its new compilation.

Born out of ghetto house and latterly juke, footwork has become one of the fastest growing electronic music movements of the past few years. Whilst Chicago is the city at the heart of the sound, its influence is now global and nowhere more so than France, where Booty Call Records has been pushing varying strains of booty-influenced music since 2010. It’s a label backed by the likes of Kaptain Cadillac, Marvy da Pimp and Raziek, with a catalogue of releases that includes bona fide ghetto legends DJ Funk, DJ Deeon, DJ Godfather and Traxman.

Next up on its schedule is the first instalment of the ‘Global Footwork’ compilation series. Released today, Volume 1 features 12 footwork producers demonstrating their take on the style, and as the title suggests it’s a multi-national affair. The US is heavily repped by DJ Earl, DJ Phil, DJ EQ Why, DJ Taye and DJ Curt, plus Japanese producers Satanicpornocultshop, Guchon and Heavy Dee, Sarantis flying the flag for the UK, French producer DJ Hilti, Juke Ellington from Belgium, Fidser of Poland and Mister Ries from the Netherlands.
