Shortly after releasing the initial info for their 2016 return to Butlins, Minehead, Bloc have just dropped the first wave of artists to feature on their 2016 line up, and it’s all killer.
Like we’ve come to expect from previous years, the organisers at Bloc have curated an unique and eclectic selection of some of the most exciting names in electronic music spanning across all genres. The 2016 line up sees Bloc continuing their fitting homage to Detroit; welcoming back Techno demigods Jeff Mills and Carl Craig, while showing equal respect for the the sounds across the Atlantic in the form of Ben Klock, Nina Kraviz and Rodhad.
These guys will joined by a whole host of progressive, cutting-edge producers such as Warp favourite Evian Christ, Holly Herndon and Objekt. Elsewhere, Floating Points is confirmed to DJ off the back of his critically lauded LP whilst Motor City drum Ensemble, Bicep and Tama Sumo are all set to bring their trademark soulful sounds.
However, the booking that has really bowled us over is former snooker world champ Steve Davis, who now hosts a regular show on Phoenix FM in Brentford, playing anything from Prog-Rock through to Industrial Techno, on one occasion hosting Surgeon as guest! He will be playing his debut DJ set at a dance music event.
With daytime production workshops and brand new chalets confirmed, as well as the prospect of more acts to be announced soon, this year is shaping up to be the best yet. For information as well as a list of the full line up so far, head to the Bloc website.
