Ostgut Ton follow the release of Barker & Baumecker debut LP ‘Transsektoral’ with four remixes.
Set for release on January 28, Berghain’s in-house label Ostgut Ton comission four diverse edits of tracks from one their stand out releases of 2011. Sam Barker and Andreas Baumecker used the opportunity of writing in the album format to full effect. A mixture of dark, DJ tools, late-morning anthems and gripping atmospherics resulted in a techno LP of the highest order, and the remixes do it justice.
Recent Hyponik interviewee Machinedrum adds colour and bounce to the previously broken-beat ‘No Body’, and emphasises the vocal sample to lead the track. Newcomer Kobosil strips down ‘Silo’ into rugged techno territory, driving the track with mid-range stabs. Blawan goes even rougher on ‘Crows’ – he seems to be able to do no wrong at the moment, with this powerful remix to be released a week before SHEWORKS005. Third Side, the collaborative project between Steffi and The Analogue Cops, takes on a highlight of the album, ‘ShlangBang’, and deliver a club-friendly remix, full of the natural-sounding percussion from which The Analogue Cops take their name.
