Arca Unveils New Track ‘Vanity’

Hear another amorphous piece from the Venezuelan-born, London-based producer.

Continually innovative and unpredictable producer Alejandro Ghersi aka Arca shared ‘Washed Clean’ last week – a deeply atmospheric and disconcerting piece that saw the Bjork and FKA twigs collaborator take a more textural approach to composition. He’s just dropped a new track ‘Vanity’ on his Soundcloud as a free download, and it will be available on a currently unnamed 7″. It sees him return to his more jarringly melodic tendencies we heard on last year’s brilliantly haunting ‘Xen’ – hints of his classical training can be heard as biting plucked synth melodies collide with each other and burst from under booming Hip-Hop drums that have been slathered with layers of mucky bleeps and noise.

Frequent collaborator and visual-artist Jesse Kanda provided more of his fascinating and often graphic computer-generated images for the ‘Vanity’ artwork, which prompted Instagram to actually terminate Arca’s account for violating their terms. Listen to the track below…
