Anohni (Antony Hegarty) Brings ‘Hopelessness’ To The Barbican In July

One of the first chances to hear material from Anohni’s new electronic record performed live.

Anohni is the new moniker of prominent New York musician/artist Antony Hegarty, who was also lead singer of Antony and the Johnsons. In a departure from her recent symphonic collaborations, she’s linked up with heavyweight Warp producers Oneohtrix Point Never and Hudson Mohawke on her latest album ‘Hopelessness’, which she describes as “an electronic record with some sharp teeth”.

The two Barbican concerts will be one of the first chances to hear material from ‘Hopelessness’ performed live. The performance itself sounds pretty intriguing – we’re promised “joyous dancing and Anohni performing embodied within a live avatar.”Though it remains to be seen whether Anohni will be joined live by Oneohtrix and HudMo.

‘Hopelessness’ is still without a release date, set to come out sometime in the spring, but you can listen to the first single ‘4 Degrees’ below.

Anohni plays the Barbican, 7 & 8 July. Tickets start at £25 and are available right here.
