Wavey Tones takes place at Peckham Palais on May 11.
As standard, Wavey Tones avoid an obvious line up, carefully selecting five of electronic music’s most-revered, experimental producers from the US, mainland Europe and London. Headlining is the elusive Werk Discs boss Darren Cunningham, aka Actress. His inimitable productions have come via Ninja Tune, Honest Jon’s, Werk Discs, Non Plus, Numbers, Aus, and Prime Numbers, never conforming to any expectations nor ceasing to amaze.
Workshop associate Kassem Mosse‘s two tracks on Non Plus‘ recent ‘Think And Change’ compilation served as a timely reminder of his seemingly endless talent. He is no ordinary techno producer, confidently dipping into the realms of funk and beyond in both DJ and live sets, and most notably, on a stand out 12″ for Sounds Of The Universe (see here). The now Sheffield-based house veteran Maurice Fulton is next billed. His 20 years of recording and performing experience have made him one of the most respected names in his native US house/techno scene, as well as our own, and his recent album as Syclops, ‘A Blink Of An Eye’, showed he’s as relevant as ever.
London techno producer Andy Blake and The Trilogy Tapes‘ New York-hailing Madteo round off a varied, conoisseurs line up.
