Hyp 212: Junes

It was nearly a year ago that we met up with Ian from boutique label Galdoors to talk about the story behind him and his brother’s Neil’s exciting imprint. Named after a garage door fitting company run by the brother’s late grandparents, Galdoors instantly resonated due to its low key, honest approach. It didn’t hurt that the music was great either, with early releases from the likes of Elgato and Audio Werner showcasing an intricate and classy House sound that proved hard not to love.

Having dropped the label’s second release back in 2013 with the ‘Colours’ EP under his Junes alias, Neil returned to deliver its most recent offering at the tail end of last year with the excellent – ‘Root Pattern‘. Precise but with just enough kinks and personality, listening its hard not to see why the likes of Ben UFO and Mike Huckaby are fans.

On Hyp 212 he continues to roll with the sounds that have defined his material so far. In beautifully unfussy fashion, Junes delivers cute melodies, glitching acid and low-slung 2-step with a careful dash of syncopated unorthodoxy to boot. No tracklist for this one, so you’ll have to join us in playing the guessing game…
