Hyp 038: Tomb Crew

It’s finally summer (if you ignore the casual thunderstorm every 5 minutes), which means it’s time for hip-house. Nothing says summer vibes more than jackin’ grooves and feel-good rhymes beamed straight from the eighties, and for their Hyp mix, London’s Tomb Crew have put together a tight selection of classic hip-house cuts.

One of the UK’s fiercest bass crews, Tomb Crew have really come into their own in recent months, with their experience playing out at pretty much any decent party in the country coming to a head with the Trouble & Bass released ‘Heavy Bass Champions of the World Vol. XIV’ EP earlier this year. With a hectic DJ schedule over the past couple of years, the former Nottingham residents are now a tight 3 man unit as Jamie & Nick blow up parties alongside the dextrous mic talents of none other than MC Illa Man.

You can catch their latest foray into production on Black Butter Record’s soon come ‘Watch This’ EP, as heavy hitting UK funky rhythms blend with ragga legend Rubi Dan and Juxci D on vocals. Until then, you can enjoy the sound of original hip-house pioneers, from the UK’s own Beatmasters to the Sonic Surfers.
