Hyp 029: Distal

Hyp 029: Distal

The 29th edition of our Hyp mix is something pretty special, coming from one of the US’s finest dance music exports, the man like Distal.

Hailing from Atlanta Georgia, the Embassy Recordings boss has kept busy over the past 2 years, exploring the rich fields of sound somewhere between dubstep, Dirty South hip-hop and electronic dancefloor music, forging a path for his individual sound that uses heavy bass as its foundation.

At times deep, methodical and contemplative, yet hyperactive, weighted and ‘floor focussed, Distal’s music reaches across a number of presumed titles, as his superb self-released 2009 ‘Attempt At Yellow’ track demonstrated.

More recently picked up by Soul Jazz for last years ‘Future Bass’ compilation, things are happening for this talented producer, so keep your ears pinned, and check out a slice of Atlanta-drenched bass below.
